Katie & Jonathan

March 13th, 2021

A Virtual Wedding Celebration

Katie and Jonathan joyfully request the pleasure of your virtual company as we declare our vows and join in marriage in the presence of family and friends.

We will be performing a self-uniting ceremony inspired by the style of Pennsylvania Quaker weddings. We will lead our own wedding, share our own vows with a small group of in-person witnesses, and then view prerecorded messages & readings from select family and friends. Press the Watch Live button to join us.

Katie Riordan

Katie is the second daughter of Eileen Bryson and Tom Riordan.  She grew up in North Sewickley, Pennsylvania, and attended Riverside School District, where she and Jonathan met.  Katie attended college at Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, West Virginia, where she studied nursing, and was heavily involved in Campus Ministry as well as other service opportunities.  Presently,  she is  the Nurse Clinician for Gynecological Surgery of Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Her favorite  hobbies are crocheting while watching Netflix, playing with Teddy Bear (the spoiled fur child), spending time with Jon, listening to many podcasts and audiobooks, and volunteering her time for Calvary Episcopal Church in Pittsburgh.

Katie and Jon met by their lockers in 7th grade-17 years ago!!! A few of Katie’s favorite memories of Jon are:

  • Going to their sophomore year Homecoming and Christmas dances together. Jon planned out where they ate, and picked out her flowers!

  • How stylin’ Jon looked dressed up as a Miami Vice character for her 80’s themed Sweet 16 birthday party.

  • Jon was Katie’s first visitor in her first, post-college, apartment in Shadyside, and he brought over a bottle of wine and told her to buy pepper spray.

  • When Jon told Katie the story about naming his rescued dog from high school after her. They had already been dating for a few months when he told her. She thought that was so sweet.

  • Those early moments at the beginning of their time dating that Katie realized that this goofy kid with whom she grew up was her person starting with that first date when he showed up despite being in traffic for two hours!

Jonathan Bucci

Jonathan is the son of Marilyn & Marlon Barsotti and Tom Bucci. He too grew up in North Sewickley Township, outside of Ellwood City where he and Katie now live in a house built by his great grandfather. He attended Riverside High School and then Point Park University, where he studied technical theatre and management. He is the Director of Education for Integrated Theater Systems and the owner of Jonathan Bucci Productions.

Jonathan enjoys mentoring aspiring artists, teaching and training historical swordfighting, and producing shows. He finds great joy in taking hikes with Kate and Teddy, where he also photographs nature. His grandmother inspired a lifelong love of cooking, a skill he always knew would help attract a mate.

There is much debate on who spoke to the other first when Jonathan and Katie were in middle school. Jonathan describes his first memory of Katie as working up the courage to speak to her for several days before he first said hello to her, which is why he claims that he shot first. In high school, they grew closer and attended a few dances together but never dated. After college, both Katie and Jonathan were living in Pittsburgh’s East End where they briefly reconnected. After drifting and reconnecting again, their friendship provided the roots to their blossoming romance.

Two years later, Katie surprised him with a proposal on Leap Day. After a long day working on a show, Katie sat Jonathan down to read a letter. In that letter, she asked him to marry her and gave him a ring. Don’t worry, she got one too the next day.
